Why a Liberty?   As you may know,  I was one of the founding members of Jeeps of North Texas.  JNT was the brainchild of Dan Stalfire,  another JNT lifetime member.  I was lucky enough to be the first person in the club other than he and his brother in law.

I spent years in that club doing various things.
I was the first Trail Boss
I wrote technical columns
I wrote Trail Reviews
I helped schedule and organize trail runs
I managed the website (split between Dan and I)

Anyway,  I had a 97 TJ  until several things happened.  First,  we had twins.  The twins were too many kids to fit into a Wrangler back seat with Aaron.  Secondly,  I was out of a job at the time and we needed some cushion room which forced the sale of the Jeep and into a Hyundai.  YIKES!   They are good cars but not Jeeps.

So in need of  space for 5 passengers and Aaron always asking to 'ride bumps',  the Liberty was the obvious choice compared to a Grand Cherokee or a used Cherokee.  I don't like used unless I know where it has been and the Grand costs too much.

L.O.S.T stands for Liberty Owners Special Team.  They are dedicated to Jeep Liberty's of course.
My membership # is 090909

Their website can be found at

KJ?    KJ is Jeeps classification for the Liberty.  It all started with the CJ  (civilian Jeep) after WWII.  since then there have been
YJ's (those Jeeps with square headlights)
XJ's (Cherokee)
ZJ's (Grand Cherokee)
TJ's (Newer style of wrangler with round headlights)
MJ (Comanche pickup)
WJ (New style Grand Cherokee)
SJ (Full Size Jeep Pickup)

This is JNT"s logo.   The logo was designed by Chris "Gonzo" Jones when he took the reigns as President after Dan Stalfire went my direction (he sold his Jeep).  Dan had been president for several years and it is a demanding position to hold.   All JNT officer positions were demanding and we found that out first hand.

Our original logo was sad compared to this one,  but it was cool at the time.  My Wrangler page has an old JNT logo on it.  Good Job Chris.  He also made different logos for each model of Jeep.  I used to have them posted on the JNT site,  but don't know where they are now as I don't run the site anymore.  Maybe I can ask him to do a Liberty one for me??? HINT CHRIS  :-)

These pictures are the first ones I have of the Liberty.  It was dark when I picked it up and actually,  it is 6 am now the following morning.   I am just waiting for the sun to come up so I can take some pictures and post them here.  LOL.

I figured I could have the page all laid out and ready to go by the time I took the pictures.  I sure am glad I have a digital camera to use.  My TJ pictures were taken with a regular camera,  then you had to wait for it to be developed,  then scan the pictures in.....GAG
